“Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes or in their offices: secretaries, business men and women, military and federal workers, moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror. The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge – huge structures collapsing have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed. Our country is strong. A great people has been moved to defend a great nation.” » President George W. Bush, September 11, 2001.

The terror attack on our nation; in New York, in Washington D.C. and in Pennsylvania, showed the worst that humans could offer. But, it also showed the best. Countless men and women risked their lives to defend and save the lives of people they did not even know. 9/11 saw the deaths of almost 3,000 people but it was also the single greatest rescue mission in American history.

Our nation came together after this terrible day. It did not matter what race, religion, political affiliation, sex you were. We were united. We must work to get that unity again.

We will never forget those who lost their lives on 9/11, and since, due to that cowardly attack. We will never forget the bravery of the heroes who ran towards danger to help. We will never forget the unity that followed.

    God Bless America!
