FOP Ohio Auxiliary

"We support Law Enforcement"

NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE**

Their uniform is often blue, but they come in brown,
green and suntans, too!
NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE

The Badge may be a shield; it may also be a star.
Silver or gold, but seen from afar.
NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE

A thankless job they willingly do, to provide protection for me and you.
And they do it!
NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE

Hated by many, but loved by few, only they know best
the job they must do. And they do it!
NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE

An arbitrator, negotiator and enforcer of the law.
Doctor, lawyer, keeper of peace.
NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE

When they are off to work each day, and you at home do silently pray,
"Lord, be with them as they go their way."
NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE

When their time has to pass, and when the Father calls them home,
There is a bigger job that must be done.
NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE

** This is the motto of the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary.

FOP Ohio Auxiliary History

The Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary started in 1920 with the Fort Pitt Ladies’ Auxiliary, established in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the birthplace of the FOP. Kathryn Milton spearheaded the organization of the first Auxiliary. It started as a local police wives’ group, but has grown into a national organization with over 5,500 members in 31 states. Kathryn M. Milton became the first National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Ladies’ Auxiliary in 1941. From the 1950’s to the 1970’s, many changes occurred in law enforcement and the police family structure. In the 1980’s, the Auxiliary started to make changes that were needed in their national structure, to modernize the organization.

Membership eligibility was originally opened only to females but in recent years has been extended to ALL adult family of any member of the Fraternal Order of Police. The word "Ladies" was dropped from the name of the organization, which is now called the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary. The Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary is now an integral, contributing extension of the FOP and the organization is prepared to meet the police family’s needs as we head into the new millennium.

The Ohio State FOP Auxiliary is an organization moving forward. We are waiting for you to join in our efforts to support your law enforcement officer!  For further information on joining or organizing an auxiliary, please contact us through the website.
